L'amour du Pain opened at the end of November and is the result of months of hard work by Francois and Selene. Francois hails from Normandy, France and is a bread enthusiast. He originally came to Mexico back in 2012 and started his gastronomical journey in the bustling city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. He eventually found his way to Mérida where he has been baking fresh bread ever since. Francois’s passion for baking is clear. L'amour du Pain was created out of a love for making high-quality, freshly baked goods and a desire to create flavours, smells and textures as close as possible to that of true French baking.
L’Amour du Pain is open from 7.30am to 8pm during the week and 8.30am to 5.30pm at the weekend. Francois and Selene are up and busy baking from 3am and you can see the effort they’ve gone to in order to serve the freshest goods possible.
It's the Christmas season so why not indulge a little? L’Amour du Pain’s Christmas special is a deliciously warm and crusty fig and nut loaf. It will be absolutely perfect if you're hosting a posada this holiday season. Combine it with some cheese, jam, or simply a generous spread of butter and a glass of red wine and you've got yourself a perfect entrada.
There is a fantastic selection of pastries at L’Amour du Pain, we’d go so far as to say they are amongst the best in Mérida. I highly recommend the heavenly raspberry filled croissant or the coconut swirl which has just the right amount of sweetness. Each individual pastry has been made to perfection. The pain au chocolats and Nutella croissants are delightfully crispy yet buttery and their baguettes are freshly cooked several times a day. You can accompany your pastry or fresh bread with a cup of takeaway coffee or a fruit tea, perfect on these chillier Merida mornings.
Whether you’re popping in to try something new, grabbing a croissant on the way to work or indulging this festive season, L’Amour du Pain is a treasure full of the tastes and smells of a small French bakery on a cobbled street in the heart of France.

But, fear not, if you can't make it out to Aleman you can find their baked goods at Bistro Cultural on 66 in the centre. Francois makes a delivery every morning so just stroll in and ask for one of his freshly baked baguettes! You won’t be disappointed!
